The cycles of the Mayan calendar are 260 days, with 13 day tones connecting with 20 glyphs or traits. When we look at the 13 days like a the rise and fall, we’d find the number seven at the peak. With each 13 day cycle we would find a different glyph each time, cycling through each combination until all 260 have been reached, and then we start again.
In this current 13 day cycle we reach the peak, the 7th day with the Glyph known as Chuen, the Monkey. The image I see is the spreading of arms into a pose that reeks of success, finishing with the musical expression of “ta-da”. Applause and curtain calls are optional.
I know this is a silly little image, but it expresses the story of Chuen, the Monkey quite well. ”It’s all that simple” is the story of today. Oh how we invest ourselves in the story. Oh how we work so diligently, and make the work more important than the vision. If we look back at yesterday and loosen up those tight fists we might actually enjoy ourselves more of the time, not just on vacation, not just at the finish line, but all of the time.
Today Chuen has a very good point. In the 13 day cycle we’re not at the finish line, we’re at the peak or mid point. Still the message on this day is to remember how easy it really is when we employ all the other elements or glyphs to support us. The Mayan calendar turns as a wheel, not mindlessly across row after row on paper like some other calendar systems. There is purpose and meaning to everything we do, and each step is connected. Get back into the circle mode, and see how integrated all the aspects of your life can be.
