Two days ago it seemed so fitting, and today we carry forward with the same image of our motionless endurance of the winds blowing around us. There is always two sides to every story, two sides to every coin. We can hold firmly anything we believe in, and more easily those things we resist. We can also create a sense of unrest that motivates us to change a part of our life.
A sense of restlessness is often associated with children fidgeting in their chair. How many times in my adult life have I felt that same feeling, yet remained still as was appropriate for the time? There are occasions when the feelings were founded on boredom or some other trivial matter. There are those times as well when that sense of restlessness was a signal of support, a warning that the ship was steering off course.
Today in Mayan Daily Insights we focus on the combination of tone and glyph with 8 Ben, the Reed. The reed could be viewed as a very yin-yang symbol: it is a vessel and a passageway, a wall and a space where energy flows. Our restlessness is our ally, a signal that pushes us in the direction of breaking free. At the very least it is a sign that gets our attention.
